We are happy to announce automation in both the Roncalli Elementary and Middle School Libraries. Automation makes the check-out and check-in process easier and provides us with greater tracking abilities for circulation. Automation also allows for the sharing of books from one campus to the other. With access to the online catalog, both students and teachers are able to request a book from either campus. The catalog is available for viewing at the link below. This access also gives students and parents the ability to work together from home finding books that are available through our school libraries. This may be helpful when preparing to do research for a school project.
During the automation process both libraries went through a weeding process as well. At this time, we are working on wish lists to expand our collections. Catalogs and websites are being reviewed to see what new and updated materials might be added to our libraries as funding becomes available. Keeping materials fresh and updated is important in appealing to our students’ reading interests. We always enjoy hearing from students about books they would be excited to see available.
Scholastic Book Fairs will be here before we know it! At the elementary building, a book fair will be open during Catholic Schools’ Week. The middle school fair will be coming in April. Watch for more details!
There have been recent changes in both libraries that we are excited about. If you’re in the schools to visit, please feel free to stop by the library and see what’s new!
