Are you the parent of a student who will be ready for 4K during the 2022-23 school year? If so, you can learn more about what Roncalli Elementary School’s 4K program has to offer your child.
Roncalli Elementary School invites families to attend 4K LIVE! OPEN HOUSE on Wednesday, April 20 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the school, 1408 Waldo Blvd. in Manitowoc. Parents and their children will have the opportunity to visit 4K classrooms while they are in session. School tours also will be available. No appointment is necessary. Financial assistance also is available.
Roncalli Elementary School focuses on the whole student – mind, body and spirit! The 4K program offers a developmentally appropriate mix of activities designed to promote skill growth in several areas. Large and small group structured and unstructured activities, and centers, are used to meet the unique needs of every child. Children learn throughout the day whether it be during group time, play time or snack time.
Students also participate as individuals and a group during circle time where everyone has a different job, and participates in stories, songs and discussions. Themes also are combined with a letter of the week. Children hear and see stories and songs, complete worksheets and participate in other learning activities to help them learn their letters. Center time allows for each child to work at their level in a variety of activities, it allows teachers to work with a small group or an individual as needed. Roncalli Elementary School’s 4K program also includes specials; students go to music class, gym and the library.
“The biggest goal we have for the 4K students is that they enjoy school,” said Rebecca Norell, Roncalli Elementary School 4K teacher. “As this is the first school experience for most of them, I feel it is of utmost importance that it be a positive one. Every child should make progress in each of the skill areas; we expect this progress to be unique to each child. We communicate with the parents and are always available to discuss any questions or concerns.”
